Dogliotti Medical College, University of Liberia with a degree in doctor of Medicine (1978) and she did a post-graduate training in child Health at National University of Ireland, Dublin, Ireland (1986) followed by an International Masters degree in Public Health at the Hebrew University of Hadassah, Jerusalem, Israel (1990).  The specialization was in the area of Maternal and Child Health.  Dr. Benson has vast experience in the Health sector having worked in the Public Health sector, the private Health sector and the United Nations Organizations of UNICEF and WHO.

Her work started at the Primary Care level at the Government Hospital in Bomi and at the Tellewoyan Memorial Hospital in Lofa counties, Liberia followed by work atthe JFK Medical Center and St. Joseph Catholic Hospital as the Head of Pediatric Department.  As a caring and loving person who is also very compassionate she joined the UN System during the war in Liberia to be able to help more children survive at the National level, when others were fleeing.   She stayed and worked for UNICEF/Liberia and made significant contributions during the war, helping to immunize children and providing mobile health services.

During those difficult years in Liberia, UNICEF/Liberia was recognized globally as an outstanding office during her time there due to the aversion of measles outbreaks in internally displaced camps across the country.  She later joined the World Health Organization (WHO) to enable her contribute her humanitarian quota to Mother Africa.  She rose from the position of an Epidemiologist/EPI in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia to that of acting WHO Representative in Ethiopia (2003/04), later become the WHO Representative in Lesotho 2004 -2010.  She later worked in the WHO Regional office for Africa as the Regional Adviser on Emergency and Humanitarian Action 2010/2011.  She is currently back to Liberia and using her experience to assist the Government in the Health sector through the Ministry of Health & Social Welfare.

She embraced the Christian Faith and accepted the Lord as her personal Lord and Savior at an early age and has not departed from it.  She is passionate in prayer, caring, giving and in evangelism while living as a role model in the community.  She works to empower the young people in the community everywhere she goes.  Her work has been exemplary at every stage making her an asset to her family, the community, the church and the Nation.
